Summerhill College Win Florida Tournament

Summerhill Colleges senior team will return to Sligo next week having won the Tampa Bay Sun Bowl U19 tournament in Florida on New Years Eve. The All-Ireland champions played five games in four days having travelled over on St Stephens Day with coaches Pat Tuohy and Steve Feeney.

They drew 1-1 with Mid City Lions from Atlanta in their first game, but they defeated SK Sunblazers of Florida 10-1 in their second game, and booked their place in the semi-finals with a 3-1 defeat of Alabama side Capital City Streaks in their last group game.In the semi-final on Tuesday they again faced Mid City Lions, but emerged with a 3-1 win this time around.And All-Ireland final goalscorer Ryan McManus was again the hero as he claimed the only goal of the game in the final against Chargers of Florida.
